SKF/Konstnärshuset has the pleasure of starting the Spring programme with The Silence – a new piece by the Iranian-Swedish artist Mandana Moghaddam.
The Silence is a site-specific video installation created for the main gallery, and constitutes the artist’s first solo exhibition in Stockholm. The film version of The Silence will have its world premiere at the Gothenburg Film Festival 2017.
A short trailer of the film can be seen here: https://vimeo.com/197170417
The Silence is a poetic installation with a political edge that reflects themes such as communication, memory, isolation, integration/outsiderness, and the notion of the other. Of being wordlessly reborn, and of the desire to be understood despite the silence.
The Silence consists of a double projection lasting 3.23 minutes running in a loop.
Mandana Moghaddam is well-known on the International art scene, and has exhibited at, among other places, the Venice Biennale, the Barbican Arts Centre in London, as well as other venues in Berlin, Istanbul, London, Teheran and New York.
In Sweden, the artist has had solo exhibitions at the Gothenburg Art Museum and Röda Sten Konsthall, Gothenburg.
